Every Journey Has A Beginning…

Here I am. At the beginning of what I hope will be a very long journey. This new site and service offering is in many ways my dream coming true.   I am filled with gratitude and purpose as I introduce myself to the world as a Life Coach and Counselor. I want to thank my life partner Megan for all her support and for making this site for me (looks great huh?). I also want to thank everyone I have ever known who has told me that I am here on this planet to serve people. I did not always want to hear it, but I now wake up everyday and hear it loud and clear from deep within.

I have always been passionate about helping people find joy and happiness in life. As the youngest of 6, I always had an interest in the emotional well being of the rest of my family. Maybe it was my two dimples, but I always had a way to bring light into very dark situations. In all my pursuits, from the classroom to the boardroom, I have aimed to empower people of all ages to live the life they want to live.  My positive outlook on life and my desire to truly know people has served me well throughout this journey.

As a Special Education Teacher at Santa Rosa High School, I taught my students skills to help them manage their chaotic and challenging lives. We practiced mindfulness meditation, we talked openly about our challenges in life, and we committed to being there for each other. The changes I witnessed in my students inspired me to continue serving others and to begin my own personal transformation.

I eventually left my position as a high school teacher, in search of a bigger classroom. I found this bigger classroom while working with Walmart to train their 1.6 million employees on the essence of personal sustainability and wellness. I saw first hand how people could reclaim their lives and reconnect with their most sacred voice, their own. After the Walmart project, I spent the next seven years working in advertising agencies and tech startups across the Bay Area.

My life changed dramatically during this time. My sister-in-law (who was one of my dearest friends) died shortly after giving birth to her third child. To this day I can hear her whisper to me “what are you so afraid of?” Her death was the first part of my personal transformation towards becoming the person I am today. While death is a wonderful master teacher, so too is birth. Over the next several years I had two beautiful daughters with my angelic wife. The love inside me grew and grew. Before my second daughter was born I had a hard time imagining  that I could love anyone as much as I loved my wife and first born. What I discovered is that love is not finite.

I am a big believer in practicing what you teach, which is why I have created my coaching and counseling practice. I have always dreamed that I could serve people for my livelihood, but for too long I allowed old stories about myself to hold me back from doing what I have always wanted to do. How could I support people to live their dreams if I did not do the work to live mine? It is also very important to me that while I work with others, I continue to work on my own personal growth. I am presently engaged in support groups, 1-1 counseling and continue my training to be a better coach and counselor. I am currently getting certified as part of the 2014-2015 Interchange Counseling Certification.

I am deeply honored that you are considering working with me to gain clarity, reconnect with yourself, and achieve the transformation you wish to experience in your life. I look forward to hearing from you.

You Are Doing Great,
Aaron
